869 King Edmund fights the Danes near the village
1086 Village is mentioned in the Doomsday Book
1170 Village is known as "Suth"
1254 Village Vicarage instituted
1276 Village is known as "Suttone" - meaning "Southtown"
1311 Village granted Charter to hold markets on a Thursday by King Edward II, one of only 35 in the Country
1370 Church constructed - by Bishop Banet and Bishop Arundel, the Bishop who crowned Henry IV
1400 The Burystead is constructed to be used as monastery/manor
1579 William Heye teaches in the School
1599 Village known as "Golden Sutton" due to it's prosperity
1640 Norwich House (Mr Peter Gimbert) constructed
1672 Mr William Hunt's house was licensed for Presbyterian worship
1675 Village was particularly well known for it's cherries
1700 Village hit by floods
1726 Official survey reported that much of the area around village was under 12 feet of water
1752 Village lost "12 days" when new Gregorian Calendar adopted in place of the Julian Calendar
1774 John Wesley, Anglican Clergyman, preaches in the village - he later forms the Methodists

1824 Death of Mr John Peggs who had been an inmate of Sutton Poors House for 26 years
1827 The Windmill Inn, Sutton Fields was sold
